Document management 

Alfresco acquires, shares and conserve files contents, allowing to users to create versions, do search, and develop your applications of content processing, with instruments to which user is accustomed. Alfresco repository is like a shared disk unit that allows the continue use of all instruments you know and prefer, from Microsoft Office to Open Office, Dreamweaver or Autocad, without installations on desktop or particular training.

Alfresco integrates itself with office automation instruments, like Microsoft office and Open Office. So it’s possible to continue to work in Office without additional complexity.

Alfresco convert the easy disk shared unit to a virtual file system where, through intuitive conducted practices, it’s possible to create the elaboration applications of intended content. It’s enough to drag a file in a box to start a workflow, for example to convert the file in another format, drag it in a different box or send a notification to an users group by e-mail. The workflow is moreover able to extract from the property file, like the name of the author or others keywords, to use them as value search in future. This application is ok for each user or department: using is easy like configure a regular email. 

Web content management 

Alfresco Wcm offers interesting features for the fast deployment of web contents management solutions. It makes easier the management of business level or application level features of a web site. The creation of contents is assisted by isolated publication spheres called sandbox that allow the check, error correction, moderation and following publication in productive spheres, managed by WCM interface.

The common process, of contents management and delivery to use target, is made considerable easier. Use management is of Alfresco with every functionality that it inherits, management of contents work process is entrusted to work flow, those define approvals, notification, etc… it’s also possible to manage the publication in productive spheres, opportunely configuring them on WCM.

WCM is able to show a preview of each sand box, and to do this, it needs a tomcat application that helps just for making virtual: in this way we can check contents and look at them as will be when they’ll be published on our website.
It manages also the content versions. On my own, it’s a good product for companies those manage a lot of contents, and need a system that makes easier the side operations.
